Emerald Ash Borer Info
Posted on Mar 27th, 2015 Comments (0)

The emerald ash borer has wreaked havoc in many parts of the country and is expected to come to our area. (Review frequently asked questions about the emerald ash borer.) We are providing this information about ash trees so you may be aware of research and recommended treatments. Each homeowner must make their own decision regarding ash tree treatment within their property. The Bridgewood Homeownwers Association will take care of street trees.

Status of Former HyVee on Stateline
Posted on Mar 3rd, 2015 Comments (0)
A note from James Azeltine Wednesday, February 25th to Sunday, March 8th at Former Hyvee store on State Line

Dear Neighbor,
I know many of you are concerned about the status of Leawood Plaza, the
former site of HyVee.  This past week I received encouraging news in the
form of an email from Peter Hosch, the vice president of store development
for HyVee:

We appreciate the concern over our property, a concern we obviously share.
First let me say we would not approve use of our property for parking lot
sales or for the parking of recreational vehicles as noted below. Our first
priority is to preserve the condition and image of the property and to find
a suitable new owner soon. In fact, Hy-Vee personnel are routinely
inspecting the property to the point we were made aware of the situation
noted below (and took steps to address it) almost immediately.

I thought I would also take this opportunity to update everyone copied on
the status of the property. I am happy to report we now have the property
under contract with a development company who will likely use the space to
house a nationally recognized health club and retailer. That developer's due
diligence period is now under way and we are confident the City will be
hearing from them shortly. Like the residents of Leawood, we look forward to
the property's redevelopment and would appreciate anything City staff or the
Council can do to see that process through to its successful completion.
